About This Instrument
The CIE/5050A is an A.C. high-voltage breakdown test set for fast, accurate withstand/breakdown testing of electrical and electronic materials, components, equipment, and panel boards. Housed in a robust powder-coated M.S. cabinet with carrying handles. The cast-resin H.V. transformer is specially designed to withstand frequent sparkover and momentary short-circuit conditions inherent in breakdown testing. A continuously variable autotransformer provides smooth output voltage adjustment from zero; zero-start interlocking prevents energising the H.V. circuit unless the regulator is at zero. Tripping current is toggle-switch selectable (25 mA or 50 mA) as standard. A memory device with push-button switch retains the breakdown voltage reading on the meter even after the H.V. circuit trips off. Metering is analog moving-iron (kV meter + milliammeter) per IS 1248:1983 — not digital. Available in two output variants: 0–3 kV and 0–5 kV. One pair of H.V. probe with cable supplied standard.
