About This Instrument
The CIE/444 is a hand-driven generator-type insulation tester for direct-reading insulation resistance measurement on electrical machines, rotating plant, switchgear, cables, transformers, and industrial installations. Power is generated entirely by the operator via a collapsible hand crank — no batteries or external power source are required. A centrifugal governor (clutch) holds output voltage constant regardless of crank speed. The instrument features a high-sensitivity cross-coil indicator, anti-parallax mirror scale, and anti-magnetic aluminium body. A guard terminal and externally accessible infinity adjuster are provided on instruments with insulation range 1000 megohms and above. Conforms to ISS: 2992/1987. Quick response: 3 seconds.
